The-eXperience 2009 announced
From July 27th to August 1st The-eXperience eSport championship is a reality for the fourth time. Last year more than 60 teams from 20 different countries battled for The-eXperience trophy in three different games - Call of Duty 4, FIFA 08 and Counter-Strike:Source.
The 2009 edition will once again take place in Roskilde at the rock venue Gimle. This year The-eXperience has expanded the amount of games from three to five titles. Again in 2009 The-eXperience will feature Call of Duty 4, FIFA 09 and Counter-Strike:Source, as well as introduce two new games - Trackmania and Defense of the Ancients (DotA).
The tournaments
FIFA 09 Monday July 27th 32 players – 3.000 Euro
Trackmania Monday July 27th 32 players – 3.000 Euro
DotA Tuesday July 28th 16 teams – 6.000 Euro
Call of Duty 4 Wednesday July 29th to Thursday July 30th 32 teams – 10.000 Euro
Counter-Strike:Source Friday July 31st to Saturday August 1st 32 teams – 10.000 Euro
All tournaments are played on PC and will take place inside the legendary Arena with the characteristic tournament setup constructed in a giant X consisting of 40 high end PCs. Each tournament will start with group play and finish with double elimination bracket system.
Again in 2009 The-eXperience will use its traditional money prize system where every upper bracket win is rewarded with a cash payout which increases for every round in the playoff and ultimately the Grand Final.
The schedule is followed strictly in order to provide matches on time, however this year the Arena will be open at all time in order to enable spectators to enjoy the new spectator facilities of 2009
The Arena has been upgraded with an improved air-condition system.
Teams and players can’t bring their own PCs, however it is allowed to bring gaming gear such as mouse, headset, mouse pad and keyboard, as well as config files on a USB stick.
Healthy gaming
The-eXperience promotes healthy gaming by providing all players with free mineral water and fruit prior to each match. Players are also able to entertain themselves in between matches with plenty of traditional sports activities such as ex. inflatable football field, street basket, kayak polo etc.
Game4friendship
The main theme of The-eXperience 2009 is friendship, so look out for the “Game4friendship” indicator which marks social activities before and during The-eXperience.
Accommodation
Again in 2009 The-eXperience will provide free simple sleeping space at Kildegaarden.
Ticket sale
April 21st to May 3rd is opportunity moment where tickets are lowered to 350 Euro for teams (5 people) and 70 Euro for single tickets (1 person). From May 3rd tickets are sold at the normal rate which is 500 Euro for teams (5 people) and 100 Euro for single tickets (1 person).
