As many of you already know we had a delay earlier today, due the Polish team Vacuum being delayed for 40 minutes. There has been many talks around the internet and on various community sites whether Vacuum should of been allowed to play or not. We have talked with Event Organiser Jens Chr. Ringdal, also known as Sarabande about the decision to grant a no-show in the Vacuum vs. Ravens match.
Why was it not possible for Vacuum to play the match?
"The-eXperience ruleset clearly states that if a team is more than 15 minutes delayed, a no-show can be granted to the opponent. In the case of Vacuum, the entire Arena, spectators as well as admins and players, waited for 15 minutes without any sign from Vacuum. A staff from PGS then contacted Vacuum and they where given addtitional 15 minutes to arrive. The match was supposed to start at 10:40, however Vacuum did not arrive until 11:20. Admins asked Ravens if the match could be played in an empty time slot later in the day, however Ravens refused to do so, and this obviously led to some emotional frustration from Vacuum."
Why wasn't it possible to just play the match when they eventually arrived?
"Everyone was very sad that Vacuum didn't have the chance to play, in particular taken into consideration that it's a team that has travlled far to get here. We all want matches to be decided ingame, instead of on a referee table. Nevertheless, the late arrival of Vacuum has delayed our program for today significantly, and letting Vacuum play would both delay our program even further and break our very own ruleset which all players have been informed about."
Does it have any effect on the decision that Ravens was the opponent?
"No not at all. The-eXperience is a professional tournament, and we make no difference on teams whether they have homefield advantage or not. The admins of the tournament have no affiliation to Ravens whatsoever. This dicision would have been the case, regardless of the opponent."
